The original sources for this entry (separated below as "previous sources") all rely on the Stocking Genealogy of the Knowlton family. Stocking is the only source to give her date of birth, a date of death, or the last name Grant. The only physical evidence we have for Deborah, wife of John Knowlton, is a court deposition from Ipswich in 1677.
Stocking also asserts that John had a second marriage to a Sarah ?, but this is more likely referring to their son, John Knowlton, as Sarah died in 1678-9 and Deborah is still this John Knowlton's wife in late 1677. This is also the evidence for all of their children belonging to Deborah rather than Sarah.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Deborah by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Deborah:
I suppose the trouble is that we don't have any certainty about either date. We know Deborah was alive on 11/5/1677 and we think Ezekial was born around 1679 but without a specific margin of error. That Wikitree throws an error is a nuisance, but the statement "Deborah died after 1679" is not correct -- for all we know she died in 1679 giving birth (or maybe it was 1678). I don't want to be pedantic but of the available options, the current information is the "least incorrect" given the dearth of evidence.
Having said that, I haven't run into this problem elsewhere on Wikitree, so if the convention is just to do whatever it takes to make the errors go away, I have no objection to it provided a research note is added explaining it.
Hi, Samuel. If Deborah was Ezekiel's mother, she had to have been alive when he was born. Therefore, her date of death would have to be on or after his date of birth.
