Born on board ship 'Liguria'
Ligueria Grant was my grandfather, He was a cabinet maker in Aberdeen, as a young man aged 26 he went to Peru, to find his fortune,but when WW1 broke out he had to get home from Peru but he missed the steamer boat from Port Stanley (Falklands)and he was stuck there for 4weeks .When he got back to England he joined the army Royal Engineers, Yorkshire Regiment (no 217368)and went to France where he was injured and sent back to England. He got his name from the ship he was born on.He was born on board SS Ligeria in Bay of Biscay on return journey from Australia[1]
