Obituary

Rohling-Carrier Catherine (Grant) St. Anthony, MN. Catherine died Tuesday November 11, 2014 at the age of 51 after a courageous 5 year battle with multiple myeloma. Catherine exhibited continued optimism and a positive outlook throughout her treatments. She loved life and was an inspiration to everyone she met. Catherine ("Cath") grew up in Maplewood MN, graduating from Hill Murray High School and Winona State University with a degree in Art. Cath worked at Thomas Joseph Jewelers in Minneapolis where she was a certified gemologist. Her engaging personality and her creative talent resulted in some customers becoming life-long friends. Cath used her artistic skills in all of her endeavors from creating a beautiful home for her family to scrapbooking and crafts, painting wall murals, drawing, sketching and photography. She was always proposing new, creative ideas, especially for her favorite holiday -Halloween. Married in 2012, she cherished her few short years with her husband Luke. She was a loving mother and wife, encouraging her children in all of their activities. She is survived by her loving husband Luke Carrier, her two daughters Samantha and Elizabeth Rohling, and their father Tim Rohling. She is also survived by her step-mother Judy Dow-Grant, sisters Julia Whalen (Dr. Rick Marion) and Ainsley Grant, and brother Dr. John Grant (Jennifer), as well as nephew Matt and niece Maggie. Additional family includes her birthmother Judy Claffey and her sister Maureen Sullivan (Ron). She was preceded in death by her father Dr. Edwin (Ted) Grant, mother Janet Lucal Grant, and her Uncle Fr. John (Jack) Lucal, S.J., as well as her grandparents Ted and Mildred Grant and Alanson and Helen Lucal. Visitation will be at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home Hillside Chapel, located at 2610 - 19th Ave N.E. Minneapolis, MN 55418 (612) 781-1999 on Monday, November 17 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 2739 NE Stinson Blvd. St. Anthony, MN 55418 (612)781-6529 on Tuesday, November 18 at 10:00 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior to the service. A private interment will follow. A special thanks to the U of Minnesota, Dr. Warlick and her staff for their outstanding care, as well as Hospice Care for giving Catherine the opportunity to stay at home in her final days. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice Care. [1]
