He grew up in the Eva area of Morgan County. He was married March 13, 1912 to Virginia (Jenny) Snow Suit in Morgan County Alabama. She was born January 20, 1893 during a snow storm. That was the reason for the middle name of Snow. She was teased about being a snow suit and had to repeat the reason for the name many times. Jenny was the daughter of Dr. William Ransom and Mary Melvinia Bell Suit. She grew up on top of Whilhite Mountain. They lived in several houses before the settled in the log cabin that her grandfather had built in the New Hope community. They built a new house in the juncture of two roads where they raised their large family on a farm on top of Wilhite mountain in Morgan County. Life revolved around work, church and play. Most social life revolved around the church where they went in their wagon loaded with children each week. The big table where they ate always had plenty of food that they grew. As the oldest grandchild, I loved to go there because there was always someone to play with. Everyone came there for Sunday dinners, and holidays. It was a big group with lots of children running around. Grandma always decorated her house with big red bells for Christmas, and there were the special dishes that we didn't see any other time of the year. Vernon Grant, born February 8, 1929. He married (1) Dorothy Brown. They had 2 children, Michael and Sharon. (2) Barbara ousley. 10. John William Grant (J.W.), born February 12, 1931. He married Betty Story. They had 1. Teresa Grant, married Dennis Jordan. 2. Margaret, married (1)Mike Gray, (2) Allen Miller and 3. Michael Grant. 11. Ruby Jean Grant, born November 20, 1933. She married T.H. Howard. Their children are (1) Don, married Loriann Young. (2) Gary, married Nancy Blankenship. (3) Jimmy, married (1) Rene Holcomb (2) Lori Olie. Will died October 18, 1957 of heart failure. Jenny died March 18, 1972. They are buried at Ebenezer Freewill Baptist Church in Morgan County, Alabama.
