David traveled to Weymouth Digby, Nova Scotia by the birth of his son John in 1755.
"David Grant with a household of 2 males and 1 female, 1 of which is Scottish and the other 2 American" is found in the 1768 Census of new inhabitants of Annapolis county. [2]

This is probably not the David Grant recorded as the father of Moris Grant, who was baptised on 29 January 1741 in St. Michan, Dublin (RC).[3], but perhaps this Irish lead may prove helpful in future research...
