Duncan Grant was the eldest son of Patrick Grant and Jean Gordon. As such he was the apparent heir of Rothiemurchus. However, he predeceased his father before January 1615.[1]
He appears in 1606 as a witness to a discharge granted by the Laird of Glengarry to the Laird of Freuchie. In 1613 he was fined 2000 merks Scots for resetting, supplying, and intercommuning with the Clan Gregor.[1]
He married (contract dated 1st October 1606) Muriel (Muiriella), daughter of George Ross of Balnagown. They left four daughters:
Jean married, before May 1626, Alexander Gordon of Kilhuntin.[1][2]
Marjory, who married Alexander Porterfield, son of Patrick Porterfield of Whytmire (contract 2d May 1628)[1]
Katherine, married Alexander Shaw, son of John Shaw of the Dell of Rothiemurchus.[1]
