"... Alf Ashley's widow, Mrs. Mattie Gray-Ashley, lives in San Saba, and her sons, Reuben Ashley, ranches on the divided between Rough Creek and Simpson Creek; and Carlos Ashley is a practicing lawyer of Llano, and a few years ago was assistant Attorney General in Texas. He has also won considerable fames as a write of poems. "The Spotted Sow" being one of his best known."
