William Allen Gray was born on August 5, 1852, in Alabama. He was the son of Joshua Gray and Sarah Andrews. He married Sarah Ellen Butler on August 12, 1884, in Texas. They had seven children and adopted three children in 15 years. He died on September 25, 1912, in Collin County, Texas, at the age of 60, and was buried in Princeton, Texas. [1]

Obituary
Mr. William A. Gray died at his home in the Climax community after a several week ilness. He had been a victim of paraylis for several years. For the past year he had been almost an invalid. He was 60 years old last August and a resident of this place for over 30 years. He was born in Aug. 1852 in Alabama. He leaves a wife, 9 chidren and 2 brothers to morn his death. Funeral services were held by Rev. Wibanks of Blue Ridge, and laid to rest in the Van Winkle cemetery.
