Samuel Hoover Gray was born Aug. 30, 1854, in Big Run, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. He was the 2nd born of George Gray and Barbara Hoover. Samuel was in the lumber business, and was a blacksnith by trade.^[1]Samuel married Mary Elizabeth Miles of Luthersburg, PA on 12 November 1878, in Big Run, Jefferson, Pennsylvania.
