Mary was born on 20 May 1861. She was the daughter of Owen Gray and Augusta Spicer.[1]
Mary travelled to England with her family circa 1864.
UK Census Date 1871: Recorded in the household of her grandmother Mary Spicer in Fulham, London, Middlesex, England. Also in the household was her aunt Mary Spicer, one servant, her parents and five siblings. She was aged 9.
Her grandmother passed away in 1871 and the family returned to New Zealand.
Her father passed away in 1881.
She married Edward Chapman on 24 March 1885.[2]
They had one son John, born in 1890.
Her husband Edward died in 1893 and she married, secondly, Croslegh Dampier-Crossley in 1899.[3]
They had one son.
She passed away on 27 January 1924 at age 62.[4]
