Biography

Jane (Milcom) was a Quaker said to be from "Loughall, Parish of Longhall and County of Armagh in the north part of Ireland" and a member of Ballhyhagan Meeting.[1] It is assumed she was married in Ireland and a widow by 1682 because she is listed by a different name with her mother and sisters in the meeting records there. It was Jane's desire to join William Penn's colony that appears to have lead the family to emigrate. The following is quoted from the certificate of removal prepared for Ann Milcom (Jane's mother) by the Ballhyhagan Meeting 1st month (March), 1682. [2]

"The said meeting inquired of them the reason why they had a mind to such a great journey, having no man in their family except they might get a servant or servants, and having no want of things necessary for a livelihood; the said Ann Millcum replied that her daughter Jane had a great desire to go and being not willing to part with her, after such a manner, was rather willing to take her adventure with her other daughter, and so go all together, being accompanied with another daughter of hes, and her husband and children with several other neighbors also, and seeing it ws her resolution to go as aforesaid," the meeting gives its consent.

Ann and her daughters arrived on the Delaware river aboard Antelope early December 1682. They were accompanied by Francis Sanders who was indentured to Ann for the cost of his passage. The family was received by the Falls Monthly Meeting in Bucks County Pennsylvania.

Jane's marriage to Mauris Leiston was recorded by the Middletown Monthly Meeting 6th month (August) 8, 1685 .[3] Married (2), 08 AUG 1685, Middletown, Bucks, Pennsylvania, USA[4]

Jane (Milcome) Graves is a recognized passenger of the Antelope and an approved ancestor for membership in the Welcome Society.

Agree with merge of Milcom-1. This is Jane (Milcom) Graves who arrived on the Antelope in 1682, and married Morris Liston.

Milcom-1 and Greaves-415 appear to represent the same person because: partial name match. spouse match birth and death places match
