Biography

Winifred Green was born 19 December 1693 in Richmond County, Virginia to Richard Green and his wife Ann Hobbs.

She was first married to Edward Spencer and to this marriage, the birth of one child was recorded in the North Farnham Parish Register. Edward Spencer, a son, was born 20 Nov 1710 and baptized in 1710 per church records. The death date of Winifred's husband Edward Spencer is not known.

She was secondly married to Stanley Gower on June 1, 1714, in Richmond, Virginia. Her widowed mother Anne Green made a deed of gift dated 1 December 1714 to son-in-law Stanley Gower and his wife Winifred Gower, for Winifred's share of her deceased father's estate. [1]

Winifred was again widowed in 1718 when Stanley Gower passed away. He named his son-in-law Edward Spencer, the terminology then used for step-son, in his will dated 17 September 1718. Winifred died as a young mother on May 20, 1727, in Richmond City, Virginia.

Spencer-22416 and Greene-1948 appear to represent the same person because: These profiles represent the same Winifred Greene. Please merge Spencer-22416 into Greene-1948 correcting her LNAB.

Hi Teresa, This profile needs a LNAB change to Greene to facilitate a merge with other profiles representing Winifred (Green) 1m. Spencer and the second wife of Stanley Gower, who's wife was called a widow in their marriage record.

This merge needs to be completed asap. Profile manager is same so there is no conflict.

I have been trying to put her second husband Stanley Gower in she married him after Edward died. I cannot update anything on this with the sources ect. I did this many years ago it has now been hit with a lot of connects.

Hi Denise, there was an existing profile for Stanley which would have attached at the merge of the two Winifred profile. I have proposed a merge of the new & old. There is an attachment of a Winifred Spencer who also needs to merge into the correct LNAB and parentage. I will place a note on that profile per the name change and hopefully we can get this rolled into one couple, both with prior marriages...shew. Thank you, Honi
