The 1880 Agriculture census reveals that William Green did not own any land. He was a sharecropper and paid rent with a portion of his farm earnings on 15 acres of land. He had 2 milk cows, 32 chickens, 14 acres of Indian corn and 7 acres of cotton. He also cut and sold wood. Total value of farm production in 1879 was $240. They had 3 children and were included in the 1880 census.
