Biography

John Green was a convict after the Third Fleet transported to New South Wales

John Green was a convict who came to Australia in September 1836 sentenced for seven years having been convicted on 23 March 1836 at Warwick Assizes. The ship he travelled on was the John or John II.

There were two John Greens travelling on this transport, both convicted for seven years, the other John Green is here.

In October 1846, John Green was incarcerated in the jail at Darlinghurst. He was said to have been born in 1807, 5 feet 5 inches tall, fresh complexion, fair hair and grey eyes^[1].

In September 1849 Green was admitted to the gaol in Newcastle having been sent there from Singleton accused of assault. He was said to have been born in Warwickshire and his occupation was given as "innkeeper". Green was sentenced in October 1848 to 12 months in gaol or bail but payment was defaulted on in 1850^[2].
