Biography

Birth

Evelyn Frances Henrietta Green was born on 8 November 1880 at London, England.[1] She was the daughter of Philip Green and Clementina Spencer-Churchill (Captain Philip Green and Lady Clementina Augusta Spencer-Churchill.)[2] She was the only child of this marriage, but she had three half siblings from her mother's first marriage. They later separated and in 1925 Evelyn married Luke Arthur Simmons Hansard in London, They lived in France and Luke died at Cannes in January 1927, Subsequently Evelyn married Albert Marie Antonin Raynaud in France.[4]

Arrest and Death

In 1943 Evelyn was arrested and interred in Ilag V, Camp Liebenau, which was an internment camp established by the German Army to hold Allied civilians, caught in areas that were occupied by the German Army. The food rations were augmented with Red Cross packages. The guards were old German soldiers veterans of World War I and treated the internees well, as several of them had been prisoners of war in British camps where they had been treated well.[5] Evelyn died on September 12, 1944 at the age of 63[6].[7] at Camp Liebenau Meckenbeuren, Bodenseekreis, Baden-Württemberg, Germany [4][8]

Research Notes

I cannot find a source for the marriage to Albert Raynaud except for those on Find a Grave. I have tried Family Search and Ancestry. I have also tried to find a death record on Jewish Gen Family Search and various holocaust sites without success.

This was on my one star list for bio builders challenge. I did a lot of work on it earlier in the year, so putting it up.

She is not my relative but as an English victim of the holocaust I felt she should be honoured.

This is what I added on G2G

' I have added more since writing the above, but if anyone can add a death source other than Find a Grave that would be great.'

I have gone as far as I can go now with this profile now.

I improved this profile, added sources and images, in honour of International Holocaust Day Jan. 27th
