John Green was born before 1594 in England.
John married Prisilla Emery (1603 - 1640) in 1620 in Gillingham, Dorset, England. Their son was John Green (~1624 - >1682)
John died after 29 Jun 1654 in Kittery, Yorkshire, Massachusetts Bay aged >60.
This man did not die 22 April 1658. There is only one John Green/e who died 22 April 1658. That John, married Perseverance, then Joane; had children John, Jacob, Abigail, (prob.) Joseph Mary. He died in Charlestown. Probate records prove most of the above information.[1]
This John Green "of Kittery" died after 29 June 1654 when he was absent from meeting but acquitted because of continued weakness, and before 1669 when his son was no longer called Jr.[2]
John Green, Sr., of Kittery, Maine was one of four arbitrators in Rice Thomas's suit against Mr. Francis Raynes on 26 Mar. 1647-8, the same year that his grant next to George Rogers was confirmed, being about 30 acres and the small island of Franks Fort.[2]
The last known record for him is on 29 June 1654, when he was acquitted of being absent from town meeting because of continued weakness. He apparently died soon after, possibly not before he (or his son John) sold to Robert Weymouth the south part of his land, which in 1679 became the site of Joseph Hammond's garrison. John Green had two known sons, John and Richard, and possibly other children, including Edmund Green of Newcastle [2]
John Green's property was "the next lot above Rogers. It was confirmed to him by the town in 1648 and was "bounded from a tree by a Gut Side above Franks Fort in ye bottom of ye Cove." It was estimated at thirty acres and was a square lot, and the little island of Franks Fort, containing about an acre, as a subsequent deed declares, was added to the grant, "over and above. Green had additional grant in 1656, further up the river, in Berwick, and moved there, leaving this lower lot to his son Richard. [3] (source needs page# clarification)
John Green of Kittery Maine submitted to the jurisdiction of Massachusetts in 1652.
