John married Jane Kerr about 1788 in Abbeville District South Carolina.
John moved his family to Pendleton County, South Carolina about 1790 and moved from Pendleton County to Bibb County, Alabama about 1818.[1]
John appears in the 1830 Federal census in Bibb County, Alabama. John Green's household appears as follows: 2 males under age 5; 1 male age 5 thru 9; 1 male age 10 thru 14; 1 male age 15 thru 19; 2 males age 20 thru 29; 1 male age 60 thru 69; 1 female age under 5; 1 female age 20 thru 29; 1 female age 60 thru 69 and 10 slaves.[2]
John died on the 18th of March 1837 in Bibb County, Alabama. John was originally buried in Bibb county Alabama but at sometime his grave and the grave of his wife Jane, were moved to Tannehill Historical State Park in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.[3]
John's son John E. Green was granted letters of administration for his father's estate on the 24th of April 1837, and the inventory of John's estate was filed with the Bibb County, Alabama court on the 19th of May 1837.[4]
