Biography

Charles Green was born in 1848 in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire^[1] and was christened there on 28 January 1849^[2], the son of Frederick Green and Sophia (nee Garn) Green

At the time of the 1851 Census infant Charles is with his parents and siblings in Hailes Street, Winchcombe, Gloucestershire^[3]

At the time of the 1861 Census Charles is living with his parents and siblings in Greet, nr. Winchcombe, Gloucestershire^[4]

At the time of the 1871 Census Charles, a Crate Maker, is recorded in the household of his married brother Joshua and his family at 114 Floodgate Street, Birmingham, Warwickshire^[5]

On 6 August 1871 Charles married Harriet Brown at St. Martin's, Birmingham, Warwickshire^[6][7]

At the time of the 1881 Census Charles and his wife Harriet are living at 10 Floodgate Street, Birmingham, Warwickshire with their children Charles, Emma, William and Minnie; also recorded in the household is Harriet's widowed mother Sarah Ann Brown^[8]

At the time of the 1891 Charles is most probably at the home of his widowed mother Sophia Green, together with his widowed sister Emma (nee Green) Fawdry in Gretton, nr Winchcombe, Gloucestershire^[9]. Charles Green of "The Mermaid Hotel", Stratford Road, Birmingham, Warwickshire died on 19 October 1930^[13]. Probate was administered in Birmingham on 12 January 1931^[14]
