Josophine Green Harper was born 11 November 1843 in Kentucky of Hiram Green and Ann Maria Stephens. Within family records her name was spelled Josophine, but in official records was most often spelled incorrectly as Josephine.
The Greens and the Harpers were very closely connected sharing boundaries on their land. Both families were farmers and lived in primitive, rural conditions. There must have been prosperous times as numerous family heirlooms including cut crystal bowls and silver serving spoons engraved with a G exist.
Josophine (as spelled on all family photos) married Samuel Hanes Harper 18 May 1862. They had:
She died 4 October 1922 Mounds, Pulaski, Illinois and was buried in 6 October 1922 Beech Grove Cemetery in Villa Ridge, Illinois.
After her death James moved to Arkansas and Myrtle married and moved to Michigan. The family remained very close. Hundreds if not thousands of notes, photos, funeral cards were the start of a family tree created by the following generation.
