Birth records of their children show they remained in Woburn for the majority of their life. They may have removed to Mendon late in life.
In 1676, William was drafted to help in the efforts against the Narragansett in King Philip's War.
A previous version of this profile claimed that this William died 1 December, 1717 in Woburn, Massachusetts.[14] But subsequent research by L. Ray Sears demonstrates it is more likely that the William Green who died on that date was William b. abt 1681 d. 1 Dec 1717 son of John (1649-1681) and Sarah Bateman.[15]
William the father was still alive in 1726 and as late as 1732. Sears points out that Holman,[3] on page 106, says "William Green, of Mendon, deeds land there to his daughter Hannah and her husband, Thomas Beard in 1720; and in 1726 Green gave more land to his grandson, Thomas Beard (Worcester Deeds, 26:592)." Sears points out another deed on 25 May 1732 which is likely this William.[16]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
Yes, but I'm concerned about the number of redirects that have happened; if we change his name (again), there will be yet another redirect, which causes bad things to happen in the underlying database.
It seems like his death date is too early. Should be at least 1726 and most likely Mendon- the primary source, Holman, [Hathi trust link above] on page 106 says "William Green, of Mendon, deeds land there to his daughter Hannah and her husband, Thomas Beard in 1720; and in 1726 Green gave more land to his grandson, Thomas Beard (Worcester Deeds, 26:592)." There is even another deed on 25 May 1732 which is likely this William [Jr]. I wrote this essay about William Jr for #52 Ancestors - here http://capecodfolks.blogspot.com/2023/03/52-ancestors-william-green.html
This page https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=wu.89067408831&view=2up&seq=127 (bottom footnote ) says it's child (5) William b. abt 1681 d. 1 Dec 1717 son of iii. John (1649-1681) and Sarah Bateman. "The adm of his estate was his wife, Mary; the bondsman was Samuel Green, both were of Woburn. The bond was dated 11 Apr 1718. The estate was divided on 4 Jan 1730 and 2/3 of it was given to the son, William; he may have had either a brother or sister younger than he. .....
Thanks for al this, Ray. (Am I assuming correctly that you go by "Ray"?)
I've reviewed the materials you link to and concur that we've got the wrong death date for this William Greene, and that THIS William died sometime between 1726 and 1732.
Ray, I finally cleaned up the profile based on your work-- I think.
It looks like a merge happened making him a Greene, when there's no evidence of the ending "e". However, there have been so many redirects already that I'm worried about renaming the profile. (Too many redirects from merges and renames wreak havoc on Wikitree's database.)
But Ray, could you take a look and make sure I've accurately represented things? And if not, please feel free to edit the profile to make sure it's accurate. Many thanks.
Greene-2280 and Green-298 appear to represent the same person because: The only difference between William Green-2280 and William Green-298 is the maiden name of wife Mary. Green-2280 has made an assumption about the surname of William Green's wife being "Warfield". Despite the plethora of quality sources attached to this William's profile they do not include a marriage vital record. Green-298 states her maiden name was "Felch" which is supported by the Torrey source "New England Marriages B4 1700" on p.323.
