Research Notes

Abraham Green Jr. was the Colonel and not his father as many have supposed and written. Abraham Sr. was afforded the title of "Gentleman" in many of the documents, but he would have been seventy years of age at the start of the Revolutionary War and would not have been awarded the rank of Colonel.

Alternative Genealogy posted on My Heritage: Abram Asbury Green Col., Sheriff, Circa 1705-1793 Abram Asbury Green Col., Sheriff was born circa 1705, Virginia, to Thomas Abner Green III and Elizabeth Green (born Marston). Thomas was born in 1665, in S Ham Parish [Southamptom Parish] Cumberland, Virginia. Elizabeth Marston was born on November 25, 1672, in Cumberland, Cumberland Co., Virginia. Abram had 12 siblings: Hannah Green, Henry Filmer Green, and 10 other siblings. Abram passed away in 1793, at age 88 at death place, Virginia.

Bob Nichol notes on Feb 14, 2013 RE children of Thomas the Seagull: birth dates of Thomas, Hannah, William, and Abraham are all beyond the supposed mother' s 50th birthday. Is there a second wife we have not identified? Or are these Greens another line, or perhaps grandchildren? I received a note on September 13 2002 from fellow researcher James Wall on this subject, but he does not have an answer to this question either.
