Note: George and Harriett were married at Northampton Register Office in 1881 and at the time both were living in Kingsthorpe which is a mile or so north of the city centre. They continued to live there foraround 10 years. They had probably moved to the town to find work. Harriett took advantage of the booming shoe industry there and was a 'machine shoe closer'. They lived at 14 Harding Terrace in 1891and by then had produced three children – Lucy, Harry and Alma. but by 1901they had moved via Northampton, where Miriam was born, into Leicester (36 Muriel Road) where they had their last child Frank. The family later moved to 15 Minehead Street. Frank later joined the army and married a lady called Ethel. Frank and Ethel lived with George and Harriett although Frank was aften away on military duty. George died in 1929 age 69.
