Sarah was baptised at Ripon Cathedral, Ripon, Yorkshire on 12th June 1824.[1] She was the daughter of David Green and Sarah. Her father stated on the register that he was a farmer and that the family were living in Sharrow at the time.
George William Hodge and Sarah Eliza Green were married by licence at St Oswalds, Sowerby, Yorkshire on 13th June 1850. They were bachelor and spinster and both of the parish. George was a solicitor living in Newcastle upon Tyne and the son of Rowland Hodge who was a ship owner. Sarah was living in Sowerby and the daughter of David Green who was a gentleman. They each signed their own name on the register and the witnesses to the marriage were Ben. Blagdes Thompson, Henry Fenwick and Mary Green.[2]
