Reuben Hamrick Green enlisted in the Confederate Army on or about 1 Sept. 1864 He was in Co. H, 28th NC Infantry. (She was granted a pension.) From North Carolina.
Troops, A Roster Vol. VIII Infantry: Reuben H. Green enlisted at Camp Holmes on 25 Sept., 1864, for the war. Surrendered at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, 9 April, 1865.

Reuben Hamrick Green Sr. was born August 25, 1823 in Cleveland County, North Carolina, the son of James M. Green and Narcissus Hamrick Green. He was the brother of Stephen Green, Elias Green, George W. Green, William M. Green, Noah Green, Joseph P. Green, Ewell Green, Newell Green, Edmund H. Green, Judia Green, Elizabeth Green, Elizabeth Green, Edmond Green, James M. Green, Hannah Green, Nancy (Green) Earls, Nancy Green, Asa Green, Henry Green, Berry Green and Drury H. Green.

Reuben married Judith McSwain June 15,1846. They were first cousins. They began life farming. [4] Reuben and Judith had the following children:[5]

After returning from the war, Reuben, like most of his family, returned to farming. Reuben died November 23, 1907 in Cleveland County, North Carolina. He is buried in the Boiling Springs Baptist Church Cemetery there. The inscription on his tombstone reads:

He served his country as a soldier in the Confederate Army He was a consistent member; and Deacon of the Bap't Church for 50 years.

There is also a marker indicating that he was a Charter Member of the church in 1847. [6][7]
