Biography

Zachariah Green, Sr. was probably born 11 Jan 1760 in Fincastle, Botetourt, Virginia and died September 12, 1840 in Sumner Co., Tennessee.[1][2]A birth year after 1750 and before 1761 can be inferred from the oldest man in his household being 60-69 years in the 1830 U.S. Federal Census for Davidson, Tennessee.[3] Similarly, the oldest man in the household of Zach Green Sr. in the 1840 census is 70-79 years.[4] His probate record is from the October 1840 term in Sumner County, Mississippi.[5]

He is said to be the 5th child of Lewis Green and Elizabeth Lauderdale.[1][2] Lewis Green's nuncupative will mentions two children, Sarah Payne (wife of Josiah Payne) and Zachariah Green, to whom he left "a Negro fellow named Charles", with nothing to his other children, because they all "were married and gone from him and had moreover received the portion which he allotted them, all but his son Zaachariah".[6]

He married Sarah McCain.

I have moved this Zachariah Green to his correct parents. He is now connected to Lewis Green IV who lived on the Clinch River in the area that is now Dungannon, Virginia.
