DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Gertrude by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Gertrude:
I think this might be my great grandmother. If so, she was probably born around 1900 and her husband who she married very young and I think divorced shortly afterward was Herman Gould. Their daughter Beatrice Green (m. George green) was born ~1917 and died June 4 of 1983. Gertrude, using the last night Gould, became an abstract expressionist painter in the 40s or 50s and there's a news article somewhere (maybe the Stockbridge, MA newspaper?) about her studying painting in Florence, Italy.
Why do you think this is your ancestor? Any reason beyond first name, Philadelphia and birth date (mine 1897, yours 1900)? Do you have any information about your ancestor's siblings or parents?
I was able to find both birth and death records for the Gertrude Greenberg in my family. She never married and had no children. Born 27 Jan 1897, died 02 Nov 1969; buried Montefiore Cemetery, Jenkintown, Montgomery Co., Pennsylvania, USA
