Biography

John Greene was born 6 June 1651 in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.

As noted in Corrections, Rhode Island Roots, 16:104, the husband of Abigail Wardwell was not John Green of Quidnesset and Kingston, but John Greene of East Greenwich. [1] John married Abigail Wardwell in about 1684; she was less than half his age.[2] ...

They had 11 children. [citation needed]

He was a Lieut, probably in King Philip's War or Colonial Militia. [citation needed]

He died on 6 October 1729 in Warwick, Rhode Island.

His will is dated 2 October 1729 and proved on 21 October 1729 in Warwick, Rhode Island.[3] His above date of death is recorded in the heading of his inventory which was taken on 15 October 1729.[3] His wife Abigail and son Robert made an oath that they showed all the moveables in the estate.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

I believe that the proposed parents suggested in the RIR correction would be John Green (abt.1610-1693) & Mary (____) Green of Stamford.

The "La Mance, Lora Sarah Nichols The Greene family and its branches from A.D. 861 to A.D. 1904, published 1954. Reference pages 66, 74-5, 277" reference to Abigail as being "less than half his age" is biologically and numerically impossible.

Biologically: His very specific birth date of 6 Jun 1651 subtracted from the marriage date of 1684 would mean he married at age 22 or 23. She then at "less than half" would be about 11 ["or less"]. Numerically: Her cited birth date; Oct. 1665 subtracted from 1684 would make her about 18 or 19. A much more reasonable proposition.

Greene-8850 and Greene-952 appear to represent the same person because: seems to be a matching set of names, dates

Children of John and Abigail are listed in the La Mance book, on page 76. Many of his children are currently shown incorrectly with father, Greene-1034

I am removing Clarke from his name. The John Greene who was a fugitive and changed his surname to Clark (as an alias) was a much earlier John Greene (b. ca. 1460, Gillingham, England).
