Excerpts from 'The Southwest Corner' (a history newspaper column) by Goodrich Wilson --- "...Greer's store and tavern was a stopping place for travelers on the wooded heights near where the road crossed Iron Mountain, where the town of Troutdale now stands. Late in life Shadrach Greer removed from Grayson to a farm he had purchased on Clinch in what was to become Scott County. After a few years, his son Noah followed him there." (There are several writeups on the Greear family, but just general items and stories.)
