Hi

Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

And we're always looking for volunteers to assist in different ways.

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi!

I'm Eowyn, a WikiTree Mentor and Team Member. Our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person. The farther back in your tree, the more likely you will find duplicate profiles to link into, so it's a good idea to do a search before you create a new profile. Try to add an estimated date and place of birth, at the very least, a country, for each person. This helps in searches. Last but not least, try to source each profile as you go.

We also have a naming standard here.

Feel free to check out How To Use WikiTree. It's a great step-by-step guide to get you started.

Do you have any questions I can help with?

P.S. WikiTree has a project for DNA that you might find of interest. To check it out, go to the FIND link top right of your profile page, select PROJECTS from the drop-down menu, and then click the link to the DNA project. In addition to information that may be of interest to you, the project page has a list of members you can contact if you would like additional details.

Welcome Dale!

I'm glad you found us. To become a full member (aka Wiki Genealogist), you’ll need to sign the Honor Code. For a list of helpful links, click my name and check out the "Greeter" section-especially the Sources links and the links to my fellow greeters Debby and Maggie, who have helpful information on their profile pages also.

If you get stuck on anything and can't find an answer in WikiTree Help or How to Use WikiTree, you can post to G2G or give me a holler.

Thank you for joining our collaborative tree! Remember that our mission is to build a global tree with just one profile per person, so please look for duplicates before adding a profile.

Enjoy!

Just beginning my genealogical work. I have basic family trees provided to me by aunts and uncles that date back to the 1400s and 1600s. I was never interested in learning more until DNA studies became available. I have been introduced to distant cousins and learned about genetic links. Now I am interested in filling in the blanks, learning why and how of my family migration. I want to document the data I already have and learn more about my family's backgorund

Welcome to WikiTree as a guest !

If you are just looking for family or other researchers working on the same names as yours, use the surname search function at the top of the profile page or ask at G2G. If you would like to enjoy the benefits of being a full member, leave us a message here letting us know that you read the Honor Code. If you just want to be a guest, that's fine too but please let us know what you would like to do.

Once we see a message on your profile stating why you want to be a part of our collaborative genealogical community, one of our greeters will confirm you . Enjoy this video done by one of our members about WikiTree WikiTree video

Have a great day ! Maggie
