Obituary

Maud M. Mills of Flat Lick, was born on April 14, 1926 at Harlan, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Sam Gregory and Maud Epperson Gregory. Mrs. Mills passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Knox County Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Mills; brothers, Lloyd, Frank and Murphy Gregory; sisters; Ruby Lefevers and Mary Pugh.

She is survived by two sons; Ralph Mills and wife, Brenda and Joel Mills and wife, Rebecca; her beloved granddaughter; Victoria and dear friends; Axie and husband, Bill Corey.

Mrs. Mills was very active in her community, having served for 20 plus years for the Foster Care Review Board serving as Chairman. She also served on the Knox County Hospital Auxillary board for 20 plus years, many of which she was President. She loved the many money making projects the club conducted to provide the hospital with much needed equipment. She continued to work in the hospital gift shop until late fall. Mrs. Mills was a member of the Turkey Creek Baptist Church. Although her health prevented her from attending as much as she would have liked.

Funeral Services for Maud M. Mills will be conducted at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Kevin Roach, Rev. Eli Broughton and Nephew, Pearl Ray Lefevers officiating. Interment will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery, with nephews, Pearl Ray Lefevers, Anthony, Michael and Steve Gregory, Jim, David and James Stewart, John Slusher, Steve Portner and Todd Baker serving as pallbearers. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home Sunday after 1:00 pm until the hour of service at 3:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements. ^[1]
