Biography

Michael was born in 1830 in Fleisheim, France. His father, Jean and mother Catherine brought the family to Detroit in 1832.

Michael was the postmaster in was then known as Greinerville (or Conners Creek) in the home / post office / general store he built on the NW side of what is now Gratiot Avenue. He was postmaster for 14 years. He was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives in 1875 and 1876 and was elected State Senator for the First District in 1884. He also served as Justice of the Peace for 8 years.

Occupation in 1880: Grocer.

Occupation at death: Merchant.
