Thomas Philip Robinson, was born on 8 December 1781 at Whitehall, Westminster, in London, Middlesex, England. He was the son of Sir Thomas Robinson, 1st Baron Grantham and Lady Mary Jemima Yorke.
When Thomas went to Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England there is a short entry in Venn.lib.cam.ac.uk listing Thomas Philip Weddell. [1] However, his full University Record for St. John's College is under Lord Philip Thomas Grantham. [2] Matric 1801:04ET: MA 1801.
Marriage
Sir Thomas Philip Robinson 2nd Earl de Grey of Wrest married Lady Henrietta Frances Cole on 20 July 1805 at Cobham, Surrey, England, United Kingdom. [3] She was the daughter of Lord William Willoughby Cole, 1st Earl of Enniskillen and Lady Anne Lowry-Corry.

Titles and Honours
He succeeded his father as 3rd Baron Grantham, of Grantham, Lincolnshire, England and to the estate of Topcliffe, Yorkshire. [G.B., 1761] on 20 July 1786.
He succeeded his cousin, Sir Norton ROBINSON, in the title of 6th Baronet Robinson, of Newby, Yorkshire, England. [E., 1690] in 1792.
He succeeded to the title of 6th Baron Lucas of Crudwell, co. Wilts [E., 1663] on 4 May 1833.
He succeeded to the title of 2nd Earl de Grey of Wrest, co. Bedford [U.K., 1816] on 4 May 1833.
He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Garter (KG).
Name Changes
On 7 May 1803 his name was legally changed from his patronymic name of Robinson to Thomas Philip Weddell by Royal Licence. He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire.
On 23 June 1833 his name was legally changed once again, from Weddell to Thomas Philip de Grey by Royal Licence.[4][5]
