Martin Gribble was born in Appalachia, in Tennessee.

Martin Van Buren Gribble was born on May 13, 1840 in Warren, Tennessee, United States, son of Andrew Jackson Gribble (1815–1894) and Mary Polly Randolph (1811–1844).

Martin (25) married Mira A Woodward (20) (born on September 22, 1844 in Warren; daughter of Isaac Calvin Woodward and Pamela Rust) on August 3, 1865 in Warren. [1]

Martin died on October 6, 1919 in Temple, Bell, Texas, United States, aged 79. He was buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Temple, Texas.[2]
