Mela (Griego) Jaramillo (1919 - 2015)

Biography

Mela Jaramillo, age 95, passed away in quiet repose in the loving care of her family on August 25, 2015 in Belen NM.

She was a beloved wife and she was predeceased by her loving husband, Horacio Jaramillo; son, Martin Jaramillo; her daughter-in-law Libby Jaramillo; sons-in-law, Erminio Garcia and Joe Trujillo; and grandsons, Steven and Paul Jaramillo.

She was one of 15 children of Eduardo and Margarita Griego (both deceased) in New Mexico.

She is survived by her children, Orlando Jaramillo and wife Lily, Sally Garcia, MaryAnn Jaramillo and partner James Culberson, Ida Rademacher and husband Paul, Gilbert Jaramillo and wife Pam, and Gloria Trujillo, Mark Jaramillo, and wife Joanne, Jennifer Holguin, and husband Ron.

Her passions were her family, sewing, crocheting and needlework. She was a very devout Catholic and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her zest for life and charismatic personality was evident to all who knew her. She had many nephews, nieces, friends, and acquaintances that she loved and they loved her tremendously. She dedicated her life to caring and raising her family and she loved all her family, friends, and God unconditionally.

Mela was cherished by her 23 Grandchildren, 54 Great-Grandchildren and 18 Great-Great grandchildren. She will be forever in our hearts, memories and lives. Well done good and faithful servant, enter into your rest.

All services were held at Immaculate Conception Church in Tome that began with a Viewing on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. There was a final viewing on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment followed at the Tome Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bobby Jaramillo, Chris Garcia, Michael Tafoya, Mark Jaramillo, Mathew Trujillo, and Jason Jaramillo.
