John Griffen, son of John and Dorcas (Quinby) Griffen, was born in April 1733. His birth, marriage and death were recorded by the Chappaqua Monthly Meeting, Chappaqua, New York Society of Friends, Chappaqua, Westchester County, New York.[1][2]
He married Hannah Haviland, daughter of Ebenezer Haviland and Phebe T. (Cornell) Haviland, on 21 Nov. 1754 at New York, the marriage was reported by Purchase Monthly Meeting Society of Friends.[3][1][2]
He wrote his will on 4th day of the 6th month 1806 at Harrison Town, Westchester County, New York. He identified sons James, Aaron - a cripple in one hand, Josiah, Moses, Jesse, John, and Elihu, daughters Hannah, Dorcus, and Judith. John, Elihu and James were named executors.[4]
