According to Lyford's History of Concord, "the proprietors of Penny Cook held meetings at the house of John Griffin in Bradford in 1728 and 1729 to discuss matters relative to laying out lots, establishing a ferry and to "amend" a new highway between Haverhill and Penny Cook" (now Concord). However, he does not seem to have been a settler there.[7]
