Biography
In 1725 at Newport, Rhode Island, John Chipman married the widow Hannah (Hoxie) (Griffin) Case of Rhode Island. Hannah Hoxie's first husband was a Mr. Griffin with whom she had one daughter. In 1728, that daughter married Stephen Chipman, son of the aforesaid John Chipman and his first wife, Mary (Skiffe) Chipman. Stephen died in the West Indies. According to the Memoir of Handley Chipman, Stephen Chipman and his wife, daughter of Mr. Griffin and "Mary Hoockey", left no children.[1]
