Avarilla married Sargent Griffin and they lived in the Glassy Mountain area of now Pickens County, South Carolina. Avarilla and Sargent gave land for Griffin Baptist Church and they are buried and each have tombstones in the church cemetery. Thirty-eight pages fill the record pack of Sargent Griffin on file in Pickens County,SC - he was a wealthy, slave holding family in the community. Avarilla and Sargent were parents of Elihu Holby Griffin, unnamed infant, Dorcas, William Monroe, Benjamin Franklin, Barton, Sargent (Jr.), Richard Harrison, Anderson, Thomas, Avarilla, Bailey and Vashti Q. Griffin. Six of the sons moved from SC to Benton (Calhoun) Co., Alabama.
