About 1815 he moved with his mother and brother Isaiah [and presumably his other siblings] from Delaware to Athens County, Ohio leaving his father residing in the State of Delaware[1]. Perhaps this is the reason that they began using the surname Griffin.
5 Apr 1817: There is a deed of land on the Nanticoke River in Sussex County, Delaware from Martin Griffith and AnnGriffith, his wife, to Stephen Collins[5].

Martin was one of the first settlers of Troy Township, Athens County, Ohio. He served as a Township Trustee[6]
17 Nov 1831: There is a grave marked Anna Griffin near to Martin's grave. Anna is ofted assumed to be a wife of Martin Griffin who died on 17 Nov 1831 when Martin would have been about 47 years old.
