1839 Daniel was born in 1839 in Cumberland County, North Carolina. Daniel was a son of Thomas C. Griffin and Nancy Stewart

1850 Daniel Griffin (age 10) is residing with his parents and eleven siblings in Henry County, Alabama, USA during the enumeration of the 1850 Federal Census. His father Thomas was a farmer. [1]

Military Service, Civil War

Daniel enlisted as a private in Company K, 45th Alabama Infantry on August 25, 1862, in Lawrenceville, Alabama.

Daniel appeared on a roll of soldiers sent to a convalescent camp on August 25, 1863, after his release from St. Mary's Hospital. The cause for his hospitalization is not listed.

Daniel was later reassigned to Company G, 1st Regiment Alabama Volunteers. The 1st, 16th, 26th and 45th Regiments, Alabama Infantry, were consolidated and formed the 1st Regiment around April 8, 1865. Company C and K of the 45th formed Company G of the new regiment.

Daniel appears on a list of Confederates captured at Macon, Georgia on April 20-21, 1865.[2]
