WHEREAS, On August 2, 1959, The State of Texas lost an esteemed citizen in the untimely death of Billy Griffin, and WHEREAS, He was born in Wichita Falls, April 14, 1924; graduated from Raymondville High School in 1944, where he was an outstanding athlete. He married Miss Eve Lawson in 1944 during his service with the United States Army Air Force, where he served with honor and distinction. He was a trustee of the Raymondville School Board, a deacon in the Raymondville Baptist Church. He was a devoted father and husband and a respected citizen and WHEREAS, He is survived by his widow, Mrs Eve Lawson Griffin; three children, Pam, Kathy and Karen; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.O. Griffin, Raymondville, Texas; and five sisters; and WHEREAS, The House of Representatives to pay tribute to the good life of Billy Griffin and to recognize the contribution he has made to his community and the State Of Texas, now. Therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the fifty-sixth Legislature, Third Called Session adjourns this day in memory of Billy Griffin, that a page in the House Journal be set aside in respect to this beloved citizen, and that a copy of this be sent to his family with our deep regard.
