She cannot be the same Elizabeth Griffin who married Henry Green in 1721, that is named in Henry's will as his wife[3]as she was not yet born at the time of that marriage.
The confusion arises because Henry names Richard Griffin as one of the executors of his will and states that Richard is his brother-in-law. Richard is his brother-in-law by virtue of marriage to his sister Mary, not by his wife Elizabeth being the sister of Richard. Terms like brother-in-law had the same meaning then as they do today, which is kinship by marriage. However, they often had different meanings, such as being a brother-in-law by marriage to his sister, not his wife. See Early Relationships Defined.
Elizabeth Griffin was born after 17 October 1732.[1] She is the daughter of William Griffin.
She is named in her father's Will, dated 17 October 1750.[1] Her father bequeathed her one cow and calf when "she comes to the age of eighteen years."
She passed away after 17 October 1750.[1]
