Biography

Fannie was born in 1869. She is the daughter of Elmore Griffith and Sarah Gauley. In 1870, the family was living in Dale County, Alabama. Fannie was the youngest of four children.

By 1880, the family was still in Dale County, but Fanny had two more sisters, Sallie and May. A young brother, WC, on the 1870 census did not show up on the 1880 census, and presumably had died.[1]

In 1900, Fannie was single and living with her widowed father and sister, Ora, in Dale County, Alabama.[2]

By 1910, it was just her and her elderly father living together in Pinckard, Dale, Alabama. It appears Fannie never married.[3]

By 1920, she was living with a nephew, Clyde McGehee, in Waverly Hall, Harris, Georgia.[4]

By 1930, Fannie had moved in with her brother, Wyatt, and his wife, Fannie McGehee Griffith, in Heflin, Cleburne, Alabama.[5]

By 1940, she may possibly have been an inmate in a hospital for the insane in Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.[6]
