Emmett was born in 1860. He is the son of Elmore Griffith and Sarah Gauley. The family was living in Dale County, Alabama in 1860.[1]
They were still in Dale County in 1870. Emett had gained two sisters, Ora and Fannie, and a brother, W C.[2]
Emmett married Frankie C. Mcgehee, 04 Nov 1885, in Muscogee County, Georgia.[3]
By 1900, he and his wife had four children, Mary, Lucy, Louis and P.E. Jr. His mother-in-law and a boarder were also living with them in Muscogee County, Georgia. Emmett was a drummer for a dry goods company.[4]
He and Frankie were mentioned in the death record of their son, Louis, in 1940.[5]
