Biography

Hezekiah Griffith, son of Samuel Griffith and Martha Rogers, was born on 10 Sep. 1789 in Stephentown, Rensselaer, New York.[1][2]

Hezekiah married Millicent Beers prior to 1810 and they had ten children - Jonathan, William Joseph, Esther, Lydia, Simeon, Electa, Robert, David E., Peter, and Alvira.

Hezekiah appeared aged 16-25 (he was 20), along with a female, aged 16-25 (his wife, Millicent Beers) in the census for Stephentown, Rensselaer, New York, His father, Samuel Griffith, appears on the line above Hezekiah's entry and he heads a household with his wife, and seven children.[3]

By 1830, Hezekiah lived in Concord, Erie, New York with his wife and 7 children ranging in age from 19 to 4.[4]

Hezekiah and Millicent continued to live in Concord in 1840 when their household was comprised of three sons and two daughters. Their older children were no longer living at home.[5]

In 1850, Millicent and Hezekiah lived in Concord with three of their sons - Robert, Peter, David - and grandson, Lucius Flint, son of daughter, Lydia Griffith Flint, who died in 1843. [6]

In 1855, Millicent, age 62, and Hezekiah, age 66, continued to be residents of Concord. In their household were their children, Peter and Elizabeth and grandson, Lucius Leroy Flint.[7]

Hezekiah and Millicent, and their son, Robert, and grandson, Lucius Flint, lived together in Concord in 1860. Lucius died in 1860 at age 20. [8]

In 1865, Hezekiah and Millicent's home in Colden, Erie, New York included son, David Griffith and his wife, Sarah, and their daughter, Flora. In the New York Census of 1865, Hezekiah reported that he was born in Rensselaer County.[9]

In 1870, Hezekiah, age 80, and Millicent, age 76, lived with their son Jonathan Griffith and his family - wife, Cynthia, and their children, Luther, Ellen, Betsey and Edward, and a grandson, Eugene Culp, Ellen's child.[10]

Hezekiah died in 1872 in West Seneca, Erie, New York, and was buried in the Griffith Cemetery in East Concord, Erie, New York. [11][12]
