Elspeth and her family immigrated to New Zealand in 1862.
Elspeth's husband John Elder passed away in 1900 - in his Will, signed 18 Jul 1896, he provided for his wife Elspit and divided his estate between his six surviving children: James, Donald, Mary Saunders, Elspit Pulford, Jane, and Margaret.[2]
Elspeth Elder passed away on 28 Aug 1904, aged 60 years.[3]
The Will of Elspet Elder formerly of Pleasant Point but recently of Temuka, Canterbury, New Zealand was proved on 9 Sep 1904 - the Executor was her son James Elder, a Wheelwright - in addition three other children were named in her Will: Mary Saunders, Elspet Pulford, and Jane Carvis.[4]
Elspeth Elder is buried at Pleasant Point Cemetery with her husband.[5]
