Nathaniel died in Nelson County, Kentucky, before 14 September 1801,[1] when his will was probated.[2]

His DAR record notes that "which wife of the Patriot was the mother of Joseph" could not be determined at this time (2008; noted in online record March 2011).[1] James, born before 1 August 1756, is the son of Elizabeth Butler (who died in 1756).[3]
