Clyde’s parents were Leonard Monroe and Mary Lee Grimes
He enlisted in the US Army Air Force in World War II and served as a member of the intelligence team of the, 477th Bomber Group
He received the Congressional Gold Medal of honor presented at the nation's capital with 350 other Tuskegee Airmen during President George W. Bush's administration.
