Joseph Griswold, son of Edward and Margaret Griswold of Kenilworth, Warwickshire, England, was baptized at Windsor, Connecticut on 22 March 1647.[1]
Joseph Griswold married Mary Gaylord, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth, at Windsor on 14 July 1670.[1] The estate of Samuel Gaylord names Joseph Griswold and his wife Mary.[1] Their children, Mary, Elizabeth, Joseph, Francis, Matthew and Abigail were all born at Windsor, Connecticut. [1]
Joseph was a Freeman in 1670 and an ensign in 1690.[1]
On the Windsor tax list of 1675, Joseph has "a family, horse, and two oxen".[1]
The Will of Joseph Griswold is dated 6 September 1716.[1] Inventory of his estate is dated 29 November 1716.[1] His will was proved 4 December 1716.[1] Joseph left his wife Mary forty pounds and one third of the estate.[1] Joseph Griswold names his three sons and two of his daughters, Mary and Abigail, in his will.[1]
