Alfred Griswold was born about 1808 in New York. USA. He passed away on 11 Aug 1870 in Naples, Ontario, New York, United States

In the 1850 census Alfred was a 40 year old blacksmith living with his wife and five children in Naples, Ontario, New York, United States.^[1]

In the 1855 New York census, Alfred is 45 years old, working as a blacksmith in Naples, Ontario, New York, United States.^[2] In the 1860 census Alfred, a 53 year old blacksmith and his wife continue to live in Naples, Ontario, New York.^[3] In the 1865 census Alfred and his wife were still living in Naples, Ontario, New York. Several of their children reside with them.^[4] In the 1870 census Alfred was 61 years old and retired from blacksmithing.^[5]

Alfred died at the age of 61 on 11 August 1870 and was buried in Naples, Ontario, New York, United States.^[6]

Research Notes

There is some discrepancy regarding Alfred's place of birth. On 2 of the census records, his place of birth is listed as Connecticut, but on the rest it's listed as being in New York. FindAGrave notes his place of birth as being New York. No birth record or 'official' death record was found.
